My Story

Hello, my name is Sharlem and I'm the owner of Tierra Blue. Bienvenidos!

Tierra was born out of my deep desire to love what I do and do what I love. It was born out of the joy and happiness I get when I use my creativity, imagination and hands to create. As a child I was always fascinated with being able to make things that others could enjoy as much as I did. I started creating Tierra in my head about 2 years ago before I got pregnant with my first baby and decided to really get serious once I realize I'd have a little one looking up to me who I couldn't let down. I started mixing scents and making candles that I noticed reminded me of things, people and places I loved. A mixture of having a Dominican family and my hispanic culture but also a blend of being born and raised in the United States. Every candle I created was a memory of mine that friends and family could enjoy and relate to. I had to share it with the world. 

THE NAME 

The name Tierra Blue came from my obsession with the grounding and energizing elements this planet has to offer like the rawness of nature. Tierra in spanish means earth/dirt and without these raw materials mother earth has to offer we humans would not be. She sustains and nourishes us and for that I am forever grateful. Tierra also came from the desire to lead a more sustainable life where my products and company would help and not hurt the environment. I'm not gonna lie and say that being a Capricorn (earth sign) didn't have something to do with my decision as well. The word Blue came to life as soon as I decided my sweet baby girls name. Blue is the middle name I chose for my child (nod to Adele) lol and it is also the color of our planets ocean and sky. It all just made sense to me. I'm happy with the outcome.
